Terms of Service

Last updated August 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using thecredit ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

thecredit provides self-service software tools that help you identify, dispute, and track potentially inaccurate items on your own credit reports. You direct every dispute; the Service drafts, organizes, and (where you choose) transmits them on the basis you authorize. The Service is not a law firm and is not a substitute for professional legal or financial advice.

3. Your Responsibilities

You agree to provide accurate information and to use the Service only for lawful purposes. Disputing accurate information you know to be accurate is not permitted. You are responsible for the content of any dispute you submit and for reviewing it before it is sent.

4. No Guarantee of Results

Outcomes vary. We do not guarantee that any particular item will be removed from your credit report, that your credit score will improve, or that any result will occur within any particular timeframe. No one can lawfully promise those things.

5. Your Rights Under Federal Law (CROA Disclosure)

Federal law — the Credit Repair Organizations Act — protects you. You should know that:

  • You have the right to dispute inaccurate information in your credit report yourself, directly with the credit bureaus, at no charge. Accurate, current, and verifiable information generally cannot be removed from your credit report.
  • You are entitled to a free copy of your credit report from each nationwide bureau every 12 months at annualcreditreport.com, and whenever you have been denied credit, insurance, or employment because of your report.
  • You have the right to sue a credit repair organization that violates the Credit Repair Organizations Act.
  • You have the right to cancel a contract with a credit repair organization for any reason within 3 business days from the date you signed it.
  • The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (consumerfinance.gov) and the Federal Trade Commission (ftc.gov) publish free information about credit reports and disputes.

6. Billing and Cancellation

Subscriptions are billed monthly for access to the software and renew until cancelled. You may cancel at any time from your account's billing page, effective at the end of the current billing period. Creating an account is free and requires no payment method; paid subscriptions are billed monthly and can be cancelled at any time.
